i Security is an independent Fire, Security and Compliance Systems Integrator based in Bolton. Since 2011, we have helped organisations use technology to improve safety, security, safeguarding and compliance through practical, reliable and well-designed systems.
Our work spans fire alarms, CCTV, access control, visitor management, emergency communications and integrated compliance solutions. Whilst the technology has evolved considerably over the years, our focus has remained unchanged: understanding our clients’ challenges and delivering solutions that genuinely help them achieve their objectives.
We design, install, maintain and support technology systems that help organisations:
As a Value Added Reseller (VAR), we are not tied to a single manufacturer. This enables us to recommend solutions that best fit our clients’ requirements rather than those of a particular vendor.
Before founding i Security in 2011, I worked extensively within the network infrastructure and telecommunications industry, delivering communication systems and IT infrastructure to businesses.
At the time, the telecommunications sector was undergoing a major transformation. Traditional on-premises PBX telephone systems were being replaced by cloud-hosted VoIP platforms. Much of the technical complexity that had traditionally required specialist engineering expertise was being simplified through web-based interfaces, changing the nature of the industry.
At the same time, I could see a similar shift taking place in the security sector. CCTV was moving from analogue technology to IP video surveillance, alarm signalling was migrating to data networks and mobile communications, and increasingly more security devices were becoming connected systems operating across business networks.
What stood out was a growing skills gap. Many security professionals had extensive knowledge of traditional systems but were now being asked to deploy technologies that relied heavily on networking, infrastructure and systems integration.
To me, an IP telephone carrying voice and an IP camera carrying video were simply different types of network endpoint. The underlying infrastructure and communication principles were often remarkably similar.
As a result, I found myself increasingly supporting security professionals with the implementation of IP CCTV systems, alarm signalling solutions and other network-connected technologies. It became clear that the future of the industry would belong to organisations capable of combining security expertise with a strong understanding of networking and systems integration.
That realisation led to the formation of i Security.
Unlike many start-ups, I was fortunate to already have an established business operating in another sector. This gave me the freedom to grow i Security differently. Rather than competing purely on price, I could focus on projects, technologies and clients where I believed we could genuinely add value.
One principle has remained unchanged since the company was founded: providing honest advice and building long-term relationships.
Having worked in business-to-business environments for many years before entering the security industry, I understood the value of trust, reliability and long-term partnerships. Successful businesses are rarely built on one-off sales. They are built by consistently delivering what you promise and becoming a trusted adviser over time.
Because of this, we have never focused on being the cheapest provider in the market. Instead, our goal has always been to recommend practical, reliable solutions that genuinely meet our clients’ objectives and provide long-term value.
Many of our clients have worked with us for years, trusting us to maintain, improve and develop their systems as their organisations evolve.
I’ve always been a problem solver by nature and that’s still the aspect of the business I enjoy most today.
I enjoy understanding the challenges organisations face, identifying the real problem and finding a solution that is not only technically sound but realistically deliverable within the available budget.
For me, successful projects are about much more than technology. They begin with understanding how an organisation operates, what risks it faces and what it is trying to achieve. Only then can the right solution be identified.
Technology should support the organisation, not create additional complexity. That’s why we focus on solutions that are practical, reliable and easy to use.
Whether we are helping a school improve safeguarding, assisting a manufacturer with compliance requirements or integrating multiple systems into a single platform, the satisfaction comes from solving problems and helping clients achieve their objectives.
The technology used within fire, security and compliance systems continues to evolve at an incredible pace. From intelligent video analytics and cloud-based platforms to integrated compliance systems and automation, organisations now have access to capabilities that would have seemed impossible when i Security was first established.
Whilst the technology continues to change, our approach remains the same: understand the problem, provide honest advice and deliver solutions that genuinely help our clients.
If you would like to discuss a project, explore an idea or simply obtain independent advice, we’d be happy to help.
